We have a number of" Receiverships" being administered by the Burleson County Judge. A "Receivership" in the case of mineral interest, is when a company cannot locate a recorded owner of some of the mineral interest in a project. In order for the project to move forward a "Receivership" is established through a court hearing. It may vary from county to county, but in Burleson County the County Judge is appointed "Receiver'' and all bonuses, leases, and royalty payments are administered by the county judge. All funds are held and accounted for by the District Clerk. In most cases the "Defendant" or recorded property owner is deceased. In which case the funds would belong to heirs of the "Defendant".
