  • How do I get a mailbox or set up mail delivery?

If you recently requested a new address, you should have received an Address Notification Letter from the Burleson County 911 Addressing Office. Take this letter to the appropriate post office to establish mail delivery for your new address.

If you do not have an Address Notification Letter, you may submit an online Address Verification Request or contact the Burleson County 911 Addressing Office to obtain an Address Verification Letter. In most cases, the post office will require this letter before establishing mail delivery.

    Address Verification Request

The United States Postal Service determines mailbox locations and mail delivery. If you have questions about where your mailbox should be located or when mail delivery will begin, please contact your local post office.

Why doesn’t my 911 address come up on Google Maps, Apples Maps, delivery services, or other services correctly?

The primary purpose of Burleson County 911 Addressing is to assign a physical (9-1-1) address that helps Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS locate your property during an emergency.

Newly assigned addresses are submitted to the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) Regional 911 Program for validation and quality assurance. Once validated, the address information is provided to the Public Safety Answering Point (911 dispatch center) to support emergency response.

Burleson County 911 Addressing does not provide address updates directly to Google Maps, Apple Maps, GPS manufacturers, or delivery companies. These organizations maintain their own mapping and address databases and update them on their own schedules using information from a variety of public and commercial sources.

As a result, it may take weeks or even months before a newly assigned address appears correctly in mapping applications, navigation systems, and delivery services.

If your address has been officially assigned by the Burleson County 911 Addressing Office, emergency responders will receive the correct location through the 911 system, even if consumer mapping applications have not yet been updated.

What can I do to help correct my address on Google Maps, Apple Maps, FedEx, or other mapping services?

After your 911 address has been assigned, you may notice that it does not appear correctly in some mapping applications or delivery services. Each company maintains its own address database and update schedule.

Many mapping providers, navigation companies, and delivery services allow users to report missing or incorrect addresses through their websites or mobile apps. If your address is incorrect, use the map correction or feedback tool provided by that company to submit the correct address or map location.

Please note that these companies do not verify corrections with the Burleson County 911 Addressing Office, and updates made by one company are generally not shared with other mapping or delivery services. You may need to submit corrections to each service you use.

Additional information about commercial mapping providers and GPS technology is available at GPS.gov.

    Why did my address change?

Although address changes are uncommon, the Burleson County 911 Addressing Coordinator may require an existing physical (9-1-1) address to be changed when necessary to maintain an accurate and consistent addressing system for emergency response.

Reasons an address may need to change include, but are not limited to:

    • The address is out of sequence with neighboring addresses. Address numbers should progress in a logical sequence along the road.
    • The address is an odd number on the even side of the road, or an even number on the odd side of the road.
    • The property is accessed by a private drive that serves three or more addressed structures and requires individual addressing.
    • The road name or road number has changed.
    • Other address changes in the area require your address to be updated to maintain a consistent numbering sequence.
    • The primary driveway location has changed, resulting in a different address assignment.

If your address has changed, the Burleson County 911 Addressing Office will provide notification and any additional information needed regarding the change.

If my property is located in Burleson County why do I have a Rockdale or Milano address?

The master street address guide (MSAG) is a data base of street names and address ranges within their associated postal communities. The MSAG is used to determine your address based on the road range and postal community at the point where your address is assigned.

Postal community boundaries are set by the USPS. Burleson County has two areas where the county boundary does not define the postal community. These areas are located in the North West portion of the county and the postal communities are Rockdale and Milano. For these areas mail delivery will typically come from Rockdale or Milano.

If you received your address from the Burleson County Addressing office your address is a Burleson County address. Burleson County Addressing cannot assign addresses outside of Burleson County.

In addition, the MSAG helps define emergency service zones for 9-1-1 purposes.

Addressing for Developers (subdivisions, RV parks, multi-unit residential, etc)

Road/Street Naming Process for Developers

Before submitting a subdivision plat for approval by Commissioners Court or a city council, developers should submit proposed road names to the Burleson County 911 Addressing Coordinator for review.

Proposed road names are reviewed to ensure they comply with the Burleson County Addressing Standards and Procedures and do not conflict with existing road names or other addressing requirements. Early review of proposed road names helps prevent delays if changes are needed before subdivision approval.

Please note: Road name pre-approval does not constitute subdivision application approval. All applicable subdivision regulations and approval procedures must still be completed.

Mapping New Roads

Developers are responsible for requesting the mapping of all newly established roads within a new development or subdivision.

Before physical (9-1-1) addresses can be assigned, all new roads must:

  • Be mapped.
  • Be assigned an approved road name.
  • Complete the county and regional validation process.

The road mapping and validation process typically requires 3–4 weeks. Developers should allow sufficient time for this process when planning construction schedules and requesting new addresses.

Address Request for Multiple Lots or Units

If you are requesting physical (9-1-1) addresses for multiple lots, buildings, or units within a subdivision or development, please contact the Burleson County 911 Addressing Office before submitting individual address requests. This allows us to review your project and provide guidance on the most efficient process for assigning addresses.

Developers should ensure all roads have been approved, mapped, and validated before requesting addresses for individual lots or units.
